Learn more about the history of Dubrovnik and the architecture of the Old Town on this 2 hour guided walking tour. Together we will visit the most attractive locations in the history core of the Old City with the option of entering the museums, monasteries, Rector's palace and other important ancient buildings.
There are five gates to the City of Dubrovnik. We are going to enter one of the two main entrances (the Pile Gate or the Ploče gate). This easy, informative walk is going to enable you an inside into the life of the city and it's citizens through the period of about 2000 years. You will learn how the ancient citizens of Dubrovnik (Gospari) used to live, and what was the secret of their survival among some of the mightiest conquerers and colonisers of Europe. Considering Dubrovnik's location, and it is located exactly where the cultures of the East and West collide, this area has always been a favourable place to live. That explains the reason why we had to defend our freedom six times in the last 150 years. As a testimony of our success in doing so, a flag of St. Blaise proudly hovers over the city walls with the word LIBERTAS (freedom) written on it.
